Ben & Neely returned from the 2006 Cadet and Junior World Championships with a triumphant US team who exceeded their previous best record, winning eleven medals over the course of the Championships, two more than in 2001.

U.S. athletes won three bronze, one silver, and four gold in Under-17 (Cadet) events, gold and bronze in Under-20 (Junior) events and one team medal -- the Junior Team Women's Saber gold.

The members of the US Cadet and Junior  teams earned thier place by competing at national and international tournaments throughout the year, slowly accruing points to eventually become one of the 3 best fencers in thier age category and weapon.
